Your privacy is central to Aura. Aura is designed to provide conversational, visual and AI-powered experiences while giving you control over when camera, microphone and AI features are used.

Camera and Aura Vision

Aura accesses your camera only when you choose to use a feature that requires visual information, such as Aura Vision or a real-time conversation involving the camera.

When you ask Aura to look at something, images or camera frames necessary to answer your request may be securely transmitted to an AI service provider for processing.

Aura does not continuously access or process your camera when you are not using a vision feature.

Front and Back Camera Control

During supported Aura Companion conversations, you may ask Aura to switch between the front and back cameras.

Camera switching is performed by the Aura application on your device in response to your request. Visual information is processed only when required to provide the vision experience you requested.

Microphone and Voice Conversations

Aura uses your microphone when you start a voice or real-time conversation. Audio is used to understand what you say and generate Aura's response.

Audio necessary to provide AI conversation features may be securely transmitted to a third-party AI service provider for processing.

You control when a conversation starts and stops.

AI Processing

Aura uses artificial intelligence services to provide conversational, visual and reasoning features.

When you choose to use these features, information required to complete your request may be sent to our AI service provider, OpenAI.

Depending on the feature you use, this information may include:

voice or audio input;
conversation text or transcriptions;
images or camera frames you choose to show Aura;
visual questions and related context;
conversation context required for Aura to respond appropriately.

This information is transmitted only as necessary to provide the AI feature you requested.

OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train or improve its models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in.

Your Permission

Aura requests access to protected device features such as the camera and microphone through Apple's permission system.

By choosing to start an Aura AI feature that requires third-party AI processing, you are choosing to provide the information necessary for that feature to be processed by our AI service provider.

Where required, Aura will provide additional in-app disclosure and permission before personal information is transmitted to a third-party AI service.

Aura Companion and Memory

Aura Companion may use conversation context and information you choose to provide to create a more continuous and personalized experience.

Aura will not claim to remember information that has not actually been provided or stored by the application.

Information used for Companion memory is intended only to support Aura features and personalization.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Aura offers optional paid subscriptions including Aura Brain+ and Aura Companion.

Purchases and subscription billing are processed by Apple through the App Store. Aura does not receive or store your full payment card information.

Information We Use

Depending on how you use Aura, the application may process information such as:

camera input you intentionally provide;
microphone and voice input during conversations;
AI conversation content;
subscription status;
app preferences and settings;
information required to operate and improve Aura features.

How We Use Information

We use information only for purposes such as:

providing Aura's conversational and visual features;
processing requests you make to Aura;
providing subscription features;
maintaining app functionality and reliability;
protecting the security and integrity of Aura;
supporting users and resolving technical problems.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be shared with service providers only when necessary to operate Aura, including AI infrastructure and platform services used to process features you request.

For Aura's AI functionality, relevant information may be shared with OpenAI for processing.

Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information handled by Aura.

Data transmitted between Aura and external services is sent using secure network connections.

Data Retention

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Aura features, operate the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security and enforce applicable agreements.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the service used.

Your Choices

You can control access to your camera and microphone through your device's iOS privacy settings.

You may choose not to use features that require camera, microphone or AI processing.

You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through your Apple Account subscription settings.

Children

Aura is not intended for children below the minimum age required to use the service under applicable law without appropriate parental or guardian involvement.

We may update this Privacy Policy when Aura's features, service providers or legal requirements change.
